The Honda Clarity is one of Honda’s newest models and was designed to be a dedicated alternative fuel vehicle. It is available in three variations — plug-in hybrid (PHEV), 100% battery electric, or fuel cell. However, the most popular variant, at least in the first few years, will most likely be the PHEV model.
While it has its own design, the Honda Clarity is about the same size as the Accord. According to the EPA, the Clarity should deliver an electric driving range of 47 miles and gets 110 MPGe.* When the gasoline engine is in use, it delivers a combined rating of 42 mpg. Thanks to its long electric range, you will find that you rarely use the gasoline engine.
Along with its excellent powertrain system, the Clarity PHEV comes well-equipped with tech features like Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ and a full suite of active safety features such as Honda LaneWatch™.
If you want even more information about the 2018 Honda Clarity, stop by Bill Walsh Honda. The Clarity will be arriving on our showroom floor very soon.
*110 combined miles per gallon of gasoline-equivalent (MPGe) electric rating; 44 city/40 highway/42 combined MPG gasoline only rating. 47-mile maximum EV mode driving range rating. 340-mile combined gas-electric driving range rating. Ratings determined by EPA. Use for comparison purposes only. Your MPGe/MPG and driving range will vary depending on driving conditions, how you drive and maintain your vehicle, battery-package/condition and other factors.
The 2018 Honda Clarity is the brand’s latest entry into the plug-in hybrid segment, and it does so admirably. Multiple drive modes and smooth, quiet shifts between the electric motor and gasoline engine make it quite the comfortable ride. The third in the Clarity line, the Honda Clarity Plug-in Hybrid is a great car for fuel-conscious drivers.
While the Honda Clarity is a midsize sedan, it’s far from an Accord clone. Its powertrain offers drivers more efficiency as well as multiple drive modes. It has three powertrain variations: fuel cell, electric, and plug-in hybrid.
“The Clarity is intended to be an environmental halo vehicle for Honda,” said spokesman Chris Martin, “so it has to be a distinct model from Accord.”
The Honda Clarity features a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine mated to an electric motor, a combination that delivers 212 horsepower. In addition to that kind of power, the fuel-efficient model also features three driving modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport.
In short, the Honda Clarity is a value-oriented, eco-friendly car that comes loaded with features. From the Honda Sensing® safety suite to an eight-inch touchscreen display, it’s clear that the Japanese automaker wanted to give drivers plenty of incentives to check out its latest model.
We here at Bill Walsh Honda are always happy to see the Honda lineup expanding to include more eco-friendly vehicles.
